Japanese Minitrucks legal on US roads?

Anyone know if minitrucks such as the Suzuki Carry, Daihatsu Hijet, and Mitsubishi Minicab are road legal in the US?
Pics for clicks... Related messages I have read a myriad of opinions, advices etc on this and it's all over the place. Does anyone know for legal-sure about the legality of this feature on Texas roads? First hand experience would be great, a lawyer/legal expert, LEO's etc. Here it is or here Thanx!
