Broken clutch spring clip
Hello guys. I recently removed my CDV and while I was there replaced the old slave cylinder. Upon finishing up and starting up the car I heard a clinging sound and the clutch pedal engages about half inch off the floor.
With the engine off the pedal feels as it should, with engine running pedal feels a bit softer as if it had air, but I bench bled and pressure bled. If I hold the clutch and start the car, the first shift engagement is correct, a couple inches off the floorboard, but once I let go and go to shift again the problem comes back. This leads me to suspect the spring clip broke and there is extra play in the clutch fork, which would explain how the first engagement is correct since the fork is being held in place by the slave and only moves around when I let go, also the low engagement and the clinging sound (which is gone now, spring must be chilling inside).
My question is, is it ok to drive the car for now? I have been for a couple days, aside from the low engagement everything seems ok. I plan on dropping the tranny and cleaning everything up and replacing the broken parts. Idk if the extra play is enough to bust the slave cylinder or something worse
