Toyota - Panic alarm goes off by itself

1st Generation (2003-2008) - Toyota Nation Forum : Toyota Car and Truck Forums - www.toyotanation.com
My 2003 Toyota Matrix panic alarm keeps going off. I have no alarm system, so this is just the panic button itself. The key fob should be innocent, since it has happened with the battery completely out. Evidence points to it being some kind of signal in the neighborhood that is interfering, since it only happens when I park it in the back near or in my garage. I brought it in to the Toyota dealer and their only suggestions were 1) leave it with us for a few days and we can see if we can duplicate the problem or 2) disconnect the horn. Since it has only happened at home, I don?t have any expectation that they will be able to duplicate the problem. And disconnecting the horn long-term has to be either illegal or dangerous or both (plus the lights will probably still be flashing, potentially draining my battery). I?ve been disconnecting the horn at night (so the neighbors don't shoot me!) but does anyone have any suggestions for an actual fix? I would hate to have to buy a new car just because my panic button keeps going off!!!!
