Opinions re: BMW 230i or 2 Series, generally?
I'm a former owner and Eternal fan of the BMW 2002, but I hadn't found an iota of interest in any modern, overstuffed BMW.
But now, the compact footprint, styling details, tall greenhouse, and sensible nature of the 2 Series have severely piqued my interest.
Could this be my perfect daily driver?? (I haven't driven one yet.)
Initially, I was drawn to the 240i trim level for it numbers. However, the more I read and considered my personal preferences, I think the still-very-skillful (0-60 in 5.3s; .96g skidpad; 35 mph/hwy) and less nose-heavy 230i would suit me ideally, while costing significantly less. I'm the sort who much prefers handling over speed.
Performance-wise, I'd equip a 230i with the Track Package, 8-sp AT, and 18" wheels with summer tires. (LSD is not available, except as a $2500 option on the 240i.)
I'd add a moonroof, wireless AirPlay/NAV, and the safety package that includes Adaptive CC. There are a pair of all-new blue colors for 2018, and a refresh that includes an "all-new" interior.
That's the background. My present daily driver is a current-gen Mazda3 GT hatch. It's a fantastic everyday car, but there's no denying that it's still a FWD.
So, who owns a 2 Series (230i) , and can speak to its virtues?
