Changing manual transmission fluid questions

NA (1989-1997) - MX-5 Miata Forum - forum.miata.net
I'm getting ready to do the transmission fluid on my manual 95 miata. I have a few questions.

1.) It needs about 3 quarts, right?

2.) Once filled, do I need to run it through the gears? Or is that only an automatic thing? (My auto BMW needs to be run through all gears, and then add a bit more fluid).

3.) What's up with the square fill plug? How do I get that off/on?

4.) Does anybody know where I can find washers for the fill/drain plugs? (also, where can I find washers for the fill/drain plugs on the differential?)

5.) I'm assuming the shifter/turret uses the same fluid, right?

6.) How does the shifter come out once unscrewed? Just pull out?
