"Killing the Hummer brand was a terrible idea for GM." Discuss.

VWVortex.com - The Car Lounge - forums.vwvortex.com
The Hummer brand was killed off in 2010.

IMHO, this was an awful decision.

It's not that I've owned, or even aspired to own a Hummer.

Rather, I see it as "throwing the baby out with the bathwater." GM was killing off brands and saw that Hummer sales had cratered.

But with auto sales exploding this year, led by large pickups, I suspect that if Hummer were still around they would be minting cash.

Soccer moms' desire to drive around in urban assault vehicles hasn't gone away, and guys still love a big truck.

So: should GM have kept the Hummer brand?
