What would you look for in a "driver"?

C3 General - forums.corvetteforum.com
Greetings,

Please indulge my question(s), as I welcome your collective knowledge: what should I look for in a driver? I have been researching the market and C3s in general for months now in anticipation of purchasing in 2018. I am pretty set on a 70 L46 vert (Bill's white 70 for sale on here is heavenly!). I realize I need to spend $30k-$40k to get a numbers matching car in good condition and I am fine with pampering and regular maintenance, but I am not interested in a museum piece that I am overly hesitant or incapable of enjoying. I want authentic, usable, and reliable... So, if you were me, what would you look for in a car to do that?

Am I being realistic in thinking:

- A 47 year old C3 can be driven 200 miles on a nice Saturday?

- Can be driven two thousand miles a year for what I am looking to spend?

- What should I be looking for to get a car capable of doing the above?

- In addition to rust free, updated suspension, rebuilt motor, etc...?

Many thanks in advance.

Best,

Jason
